Guardian SMS privacy notice
Operator and scope
Carlos Smith, operating VAYNOM. Contact help@vaynom.com for support and privacy requests. This notice covers the optional Guardian SMS pilot and supplements the general VAYNOM privacy notice.
Information we use
We process trusted-contact labels, recipient phone numbers, invitation and consent records, verification information, check-in status and limited delivery records. Alerts include the traveler’s display name, check-in time/status and a private consent-management link. These alerts do not include exact location or private trip records. VAYNOM does not upload your address book.
Delivery providers
Twilio and telecommunications carriers process recipient numbers and message contents to deliver SMS. They may retain separate service records. SMS is not end-to-end encrypted. VAYNOM encrypts stored active recipient numbers and invitation secrets, and hashes verification codes.
Consent information
We do not sell mobile numbers or share them for third-party marketing or promotional purposes. The above excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. Consent remains a direct agreement between the recipient and VAYNOM and cannot be transferred or sold. Delivery providers receive numbers and message content for delivery; they do not receive VAYNOM consent records.
Retention and your choices
Verification codes expire after 10 minutes, invitations after seven days, and accepted consent after 30 days. Staging now runs an hourly cleanup that clears eligible expired secrets and deletes eligible contact metadata after 90 days. Open or recently closed check-ins and documented preservation holds can extend metadata retention. Opt-out suppression hashes and pilot accounting are preserved to prevent unwanted messages and quota resets. You can revoke through your private link; revocation clears active phone ciphertext and cancels pending alerts. Submitted messages cannot be recalled.
Backups
The approved target is a rolling 30-day backup window, subject to preservation and rollback exceptions. Backup review currently runs in dry-run mode with an empty dedicated registry; historical deployment snapshots are preserved. Automatic backup deletion is not active. We do not currently guarantee deletion of every backup copy within 30 days.
